Since launching his eponymous label in 1995, RAF SIMONS has become one of the most prolific designers of his time, touted for revolutionizing menswear with an aesthetic inspired by youth subcultures and minimalistic reverence. Originally a furniture designer working on galleries and interiors, which included Walter Van Beirendonck’s showrooms, Simons was steered into fashion by Linda Loppa, then head of the fashion department at the Antwerp Royal Academy. He has since served as creative director for some of the top luxury brands in the world, making a mark with his signature innovative modernism. For his own line, futuristic silhouettes and details with a streetwear bent are a concurrent theme throughout each collection, while odes to his influences in the form of graphic text and experimental material combination remain staples.
