Sander Lak founded luxury ready-to-wear brand SIES MARJAN in 2016, and developed its in-house atelier in New York City. By taking the first names of his father Sies, and his mother Marjan, the Dutch designer pays homage to his childhood travels to Africa, Malaysia, Scotland and Brunei, while combining a modern and innovative aesthetic. Lak studied at Central Saint Martins in London and worked at Dries Van Noten for years before debuting his collection at NYFW F/W16.
His collections are submerged in colorful fabrics. His experimental approach to fluid draped silhouettes and spirited, relaxed fits have intertwined with thought-provoking and elevated designs. His luxuriously playful textures and subversive proportions are genuinely comfortable for everyday wear.
